LittleSparrows

In the midst of an Australian summer, we meet three sisters. Nina is widowed with two young children. Anna is an aspiring actress unhappily married to a filmmaker. Christine is a med student who is yet to fully come to terms with her sexuality. When their mother Susan’s breast cancer returns, the family is faced with choices and the reality of their last Christmas together. Simple and sincere, Little Sparrows celebrates life and the unconditional love of a mother.(Imdb)

Over one hot Australian Christmas, Susan discovers her breast cancer has spread, and one by one her daughters return to be by her side. Her ‘little sparrows’ – Nina, Anna and Christine – each have their own place in the nest, under the care and love of their worldly mother. Each has her own story to confront.

Filmmaker Yu-Hsiu Camille Chen follows each of these women – with their faults, passions and love – as they struggle to define themselves. Through all the confusion, pain and unfinished business shines the spark of hope. —melbournefilmfestival.com
